Living in Portugal there is a constant risk of fire. The hot climate, made drier due to climate catastrophe, makes it worse. Witnessing many fires in Portugal, I was drawn to the burning skies of summer which led me to Orange Agate. I chose this stone because it is said to stabilise physical energy – I thought this was quite a contrast to our current living situation - the uncertainty of our planet with the fight against climate change. This orange stone, to me, is the physical representation of the many fires Portugal deals with each year. I also used Eucalyptus seeds to accessorise the wooden necklaces as this tree, along with cork, is one of the most abundant in Portugal.
